Many people have asked , if I experience loneliness while out painting on barren, windswept moorland. My answer is, that, one can be lonely sitting among a hundred other people at the hub of a bustling city where no one is aware of your existence, that to me is loneliness. But, to stand alone on the moors, with my paints and paper, surrounded by the sheer beauty of nature, that is solitude - you are at one with nature. In solitude you never want the moment to pass - "Winter Solitude", captured above Holmfirth, is one such moment.
