I was driven to paint this work by a huge window that appeared in the sky and hung over the moor like a mirror image – it was spell binding. I felt as though I was being drawn into it, to reach beyond the world of clouds to the very spirit of nature. This is one of my most intense spiritual paintings; I was at one with the moor and my innermost feelings.  

I wrote at the side of this work: I have always tried to paint what brings me To the peace of landscape And makes me fall in love with her. I try to paint her soul, And I've been trying to do so all my life.  

At peace on the moor is truly a painting captured with my heart, hand and soul.
