I have always had a romantic fascination for the Yorkshire Uplands , where the moors penetrate the skies. 

There is a glory to them, even in the most apparently unpromising of conditions when the wind hectors, and the drizzle chastens. The atmosphere was one of solitary splendour, and it was the mood that so captivated me.
