These bridges over moorland dykes are a monument to the Victorian apprentices of masons who constructed these in unhabitable environments with their skills on display to only passing sheep and moorland walkers. Their skillfulness and pride will never be forgotten, the labourers had to walk 6 to 7 miles in all weathers to work a full day and then walk home, most would have been young children.
