Tennyson's words, "The purple in the distance dies", embody my feelings when I conceived this painting of Beamsley Beacon, near Bolton Abbey. The vista that day was beautiful; the heather had died back and the bracken was proudly displaying its fine rich sienna. It was as though someone had thrown a well worn piece of Yorkshire cloth, in delicate tones of mauves, siennas and pastel greens, over the moors as far as the eye could see - a wondrous sight.

Framed is double mounted in off white with contemporary distressed bronze/dark brown wood frame with gold inner edge
